UPDATE: No, these images do not show a child under the rubble in Gaza
According to recent reports, the following story has emerged from the international scene.

Two photos, published on X on April 16, exceeded two million views. Posted by the account “beautiful Arab”, they show a child in the middle of what could be rubble. Tinted with blue, they give the impression of having been taken at night. In the caption, the author mentions “Gaza, Palestine”, suggesting that the scene took place there. A scene filmed in Syria, not Gaza By performing a reverse image search (see our guide here), we find other similar content, including a video published by the X account “The Palestinian” on October 26, 2024. The description states: “A Palestinian child trapped under the rubble awaits help. What a heartbreaking scene.” This time, it is a video showing the same scene, from an identical angle but without the bluish tint, which allows the search to be refined. By launching a new reverse image search from these images, we obtain more results, including a video published on TikTok on October 25, 2024. By consulting the profile which published it, we find several similar videos. In one of them, dated October 27, we can see the same child through an opening, but, a few seconds later, the little girl appears in another configuration. She stands behind a wall with two openings, one at ground level, the other a little higher, through which she looks. The author of the video states in the caption: “Thank God, the little girl is fine, she is just playing (…). She is not in Gaza, but in Syria. Please do not share these images anymore claiming that she is stuck under the rubble: she has nothing, thank God.” These elements therefore indicate that the scene was not filmed in Gaza but in Syria, and that it shows a child playing and not trapped under rubble. A misinformation already relayed several times This misinformation had already circulated in October 2024. The same image was used again in 2025, this time to claim to show a young child trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building in Mandalay, Burma, after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake which struck the country as well as Thailand on March 28, 2025. According to Unicef, more than 50,000 children have been killed or injured in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, of whom more than 15,000 have died, according to available estimates.
